Daniel founded Vecna in 1999 on the belief that automation can improve the quality of life. He has served as PI for many successful software architecture, artificial intelligence (AI), electromechanical engineering, and mobile robotics projects in partnership with such funding agencies as TARDEC, ONR, DARPA, TATRC, and NIH. Through his graduate work at the MIT AI Laboratory, he developed web-based control algorithms for a robotic Mars explorer, a progenitor of the NASA rovers Spirit and Opportunity. Daniel is the recipient of the Henry Ford II Scholar Award, the Hertz Foundation Award, and a fellowship from the National Science Foundation. Daniel has been interviewed for a number of print and onscreen appearances, including WGBH’s Innovation Hub, Fox News, the Economist, the BBC, and the Discovery Channel.
